Why choose mediation?

Mediation is the process by which two people, whether experiencing divorce, post-divorce, or separation as parents, can find a way to resolve their disputes without litigation.

Mediation can result in greater satisfaction with the fairness of the settlement and lead to better cooperation between the parties.

Mediation helps foster a cooperative attitude between the parties. It is almost always less costly and time consuming than litigation. Parties who work together to find their own resolution more often avoid future issues which require court intervention.

I bring more than two decades of family law experience as a former family law attorney to the mediation process. My knowledge and expertise affords the parties the confidence needed to make decisions about their lives going forward in a mutually respectful manner. I apply both legal knowledge and compassion to each family matter.

I do not offer legal advice to either party. My role is that of a neutral to help you resolve your family matter issues while avoiding litigation. Throughout the mediation process you are free to consult with an attorney and/or choose to be represented by an attorney in the mediation sessions.

Do I need a lawyer?

No!

Mediation allows parties to negotiate directly ("pro se").  Parties who choose private mediation often avoid the costly expense of hiring attorneys.

However, throughout the mediation process you are free to consult with an attorney and/or choose to be represented by an attorney in the mediation sessions.

I do not offer legal advice to either party. My role is that of a neutral to help you resolve your family matter issues while avoiding litigation.

Upon completion of a successful mediation, I will provide you with a comprehensive settlement agreement which can be presented to the court in your family matter proceedings.
